Don Frierson
is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He attended the
public schools in Richland County. He is a 1983 graduate of
the
University
of South Carolina where he majored in journalism. Don has
been the host of the Urban Scene, a popular, noon-day talk
show, since 1989. In addition to keeping the community
informed on important topics of interest, he has also
interviewed notables such as: Danny Glover; Benjamin
Muhammad; Jane Kennedy; House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt;
Ms. America Kimberley Aiken and gospel legend Dr. Bobby
Jones.
Don is very involved in the community. He has served
on the board of the
Bethlehem
Community Center, the Columbia Branch of the NAACP and the
South Carolina Conference of Branches of the NAACP. He has
volunteered his time with Big Brothers and Sisters of the
Midlands, children in various school districts and has
assisted non-profit agencies and organizations.
